Find out more
  1. Breakfast – This is the most important meal of the day, make sure you get up and have a good breakfast, which will help your brain become more active when studying. It will also give you more energy and help you concentrate for a longer period.
  2. Avoid Distractions – Let everyone else know in the house that you are busy and you would like to not be disturbed. If this means putting on the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the door, then so be it. It could even be best to do this when your kids children gone to sleep! Depending on your circumstances just make sure it isn’t too loud in your environment.
  3. Comfortable – The whole art of learning online is that this is done from the comfort of your own home. You have decided sitting in a classroom on stiff wooden chair is not for you! Find a spot that will keep you comfortable throughout your session. Make sure your position enables you to study to the best of your ability.
  4. Take Breaks – Remember to take a break to give your eyes and brain a rest! You can also re energise yourself with food and water. Long study sessions are not recommended as your concentration decreases meaning you are not at your maximum levels of productivity. It also affects your attention span when you become tired. So if you want to take a 5-hour break or a 5-minute break the choice is yours.
  5. Have a Plan – As flexible as Online Learning is it will be best for you to have a plan, just to know how many hours a week you’d like to complete the course in. Having a time frame to work to will keep you motivated and give you a target you have to achieve.
  6. Shut Down other Apps and websites – In the modern world social media and the ease of internet access can be an unwelcome distraction when you are studying. It becomes an even bigger distraction when you are studying on your tablet or phone! It would be recommended that you shut down all other applications or even better put your phone on “Flight mode” when studying. This is one way to limit any distractions.
  7. Become Social – Join a forum to communicate with like minded people, who are studying the same course as you. Online Business School has an online forum where students can discuss the courses and help each other through the programme. It also helps to motivate students so they feel like they are not alone. It’s also good to have a debate about a certain subject as this way you are not only learning but you are also keeping yourself social.
